The Nobel Peace Prize Concert

On 11 December 2021, the Nobel Peace Prize Concert was held at Oslo Concert Hall in Oslo to celebrate the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize 2021. Following the pandemic induced cancellation last year, this year’s event was relaunched in a completely new fashion, with a new stage setup designed by Snøhetta.

OiOiOi documented Snøhetta’s stage design through a video capturing the preparation for musical suites by the Oslo Philharmonic symphony orchestra and the elegant movements of masked dancers. The film further features the stage design’s play with light, and the contrast between darkness, rhythm and movement. The relationship between the magnitude of the Oslo Concert Hall’s main space and the performers on stage is further explored and provides room for reflection.

As an additional dimension, the film explores the anticipation that lies inherent in an empty concert hall right before the strings position their arches and the audience takes its seats.
